Familial DNA question. My half-brother is a convicted felony and has his DNA on record....?

My half-brother (we share a mom) is a convicted felon and his DNA is on record. If one of my sons should comit a crime where DNA was involved would they be able to get a partial match from my brother's DNA? Or is it too convoluted?

If they were to look for it, they would find a similarity. but what they are looking for is a match so you probably would not know about it unless your half-brother is on the lamb and they might ask you if you knew his whereabouts. z

No, they would have a 25% match to your half brothers DNA and it takes a 98% match to hold eater in court.

    Edit:

I forgot to mention that the only person that could have that close a match would be a sibling, but, if it were 98% they would check both siblings (if the other one lives in state) and whoever has the closest match would be convicted.

Not two consulted at all anymore thanks to faster computers.

A familial match will come up if your half brother and you share a common parent (not all people use the term half the same way).

You will also show up if your on file.

Just a coming from the same partial progenitor match, that is all.

no, your son has different markers and would not match, don't worry.
