IPhone screen won't turn when I turn it sideways?

Same thing happened to me, the instructions below worked for me and should work for you too:

double click the middle button and go to the far left and hit the button next to the music that looks like an arrow, you may have locked it.

Iphone Screen Wont Turn Sideways

Oh yeah the same thing happened to me with my old iPod touch. But your lucky, because mine would freeze up and I would have to restart my iPod every 10 minutes. Super annoying.

Anyways, you could have maybe spilled water on it. Thats how I broke my iPod. Try putting some dry rice in a plastic bag then put your iPhone in it for a whole day. May seem silly but that gets the water out of your iPhone so you can prevent further damage.

Or maybe you dropped your iPhone and it damaged the inside. There is nothing you can really do if that happened except go to the apple store and ask them what's wrong with your iPhone.

The only way to completely fix the issue is to go to an apple store and ask them to fix it. You will probably need to spend money, but if you need to buy a new iPhone they give you a discount so you only have to pay half the price as long as your iPhone isn't jailbroken. But if you don't want to spend money, then I guess just live with it. My freezing up problem started in June, and I had to wait for Christmas for a new one :/

you can't turn the app icons sideways. only certain things like safari or mail or text messages can turn sideways. you can lock the screen orientation by double tapping the home button. then swipe that bottom bar to the right and you should see a screen orientation lock button

Well it depends on what screen you're on. Some applications don't allow you to do that.

Drag the bottom of the screen up, the same way you turn on the flashlight. To the right top is a circle with a lock in the center. If this is showing white just touch the circle and turn it off. The screen should now turn.

The gentleman who said bring up the same screen the flashlight is on then turn off the light in the top right corner that has the circle in it is what worked.

You either accidentally turned the accelerometer off or it's broken.

check your settings and see if you have any of the viewing settings turned off on accident. worst case scenario= take it to the apple store. they can fix almost anything. or just wait for the new iphone to come out. :)
