What's life like in Bristol?
What's life like in Bristol? I'm considering the LL.B. programme at Bristol University, or maybe the optometry programme... I'm still deciding... But I want to know what it's like, the safety/crime, good neighbourhoods (bad neighbourhoods), house costs [rental], hospitals/GPs, police/fire services, the environment, the people, CoE churches, basically any information you can give me, I also want to live in the suburbs, in a townhouse, I really don't fancy living in a flat, I was using Googlemaps to look at houses and I really fancy the Barlett's Rd/Stanley St area; Any info for this area is appreciated proper!... Thank you, 10pts for the best and most detail oriented answer!

Hi there,
Bristol is lovely, its got an urban centre and a countryside town all in the same city!
Like any city safety and crime do depend on the areas you live in, but generally the police, fire-officer and neighbourhood are top-quality
The area you are looking at is Bedminster; just a short distance from the centre; this is a nice area, and usually the houses come with small gardens so if thats the sort of set up your looking for then its perfect!
Other nice suburb areas are Stoke Bishop, Redlands and Westbury Park; I especially love these places because they are near Clifton (the town within the city!) and the Clifton Downs which is a massive green area that looks over the Avon Gorge.
To get a real feel of the city I would suggest coming to stay for a long weekend in a BnB or hotel.
Here are a few; this group has a range of priced hotels and are situated either in Clifton or on Park Street (a main shopping street on the way to Clifton).

Bristol is a hugely energetic and varied place which I think means it suits all different types of people!
Take a look and see what you think for yourself.
Good Luck!
