buying a puppy have some questions?
My boyfriend and I have decided after quite some time we are ready to get a puppy. However we are moving Nov 1 in together into his larger home. I have found a puppy both myself and child like and would really like to adopt and take this little girl home. However my boyfriend feels we should wait until after my daughter and I have completed the move in.
I look at this like I woudl rather have this puppy at our house being loved then in a small kennel all day.
Does anyone have any input or references for this. Which would be better bring the puppy home now, or wait the 4 weeks until we have moved?
We are doing a slow transition move, so small things are moving in daily in hopes that in 6 weeks everything will be over and the change will not be so dramatic for my daughter or (the puppy )
thank you

I would never consider getting a puppy whilst i was moving its to stressful and not fair on the puppy wait until you are settled then think about it .

Will the place that has your puppy hold it for you til you get moved? Most animal organizations want the best possible home for the animal and adopting in the middle of a move can be distressing to the dog and will probably affect the time it take to housebreak it.
If they will keep it for you, then you and your child can visit and play with the puppy and start doing leash training and stuff before you get it to your new home

If you have decided on this particular puppy then you have to get it now, you can't leave it at a shelter or anything for that length of time.
Don't worry about the dog making a transition, dogs are masters of transition. Having a puppy will complicate your life during your transition - puppies need a lot more attention than adult dogs.
I always say, "why wait?"

Wait until you have moved. The puppy moving into your home now and then moving into another one in a couple of months can be to stressful and confusing for the puppy.

If I was in this situation I would wait until I was fully settled in before adopting the puppy. If you really want the pup maybe they can hold her there for you until your ready for her.

hmm personally i would wait till you move out. simple because then the pup can settle in properly..
