False accusations got me fired, what now?

I was fired from my job for no clear reason. Want to know what I can still do or should have done.

I was working as a vendor for a liquor distributor , working at the same store everyday for almost a year. My girlfriend's..best friend's..parents got me fired.

The day before I was released apparently the parents created a huge scene at the store, claiming that I was stealing liquor underage and was drinking it with there daughter who is only 16. They went on to say that I was taking advantage of their daughter and even seen me carrying the stolen products home.

All of which is a lie! Ive had the same girlfriend for more than two years, I never stole , and I drove to work!

I know for a fact their daughter has had problems being as my gf was her best friend I knew a lot of 'secrets' There have been so many times the girl would text my gf late at night saying she was going to kill herself, she cant take it anymore as well as various accounts of her sneaking out going to her friends house and parties. She has also been arrested, various fights at school , suspension , been to rehab and counsellings

But the girls parents always let her back out to do as she pleases

EVEN NOW, a couple months after I see through social networking sites shes hanging out with bad people in and out of school , didnt learn any lesson , on to the next life she can ruin.

So it is my assumption the girl once caught by her parents , tried to snitch to her parents that it was all my fault that I was the reason she could get alcohol, and all the nights she would come home messed up or sneak out she would claim to be coming from my house. It makes to much sense.

My girlfriend lives with me and we did all hang out many times a week for the past 2 years but closer and closer to the the last weeks before I was fired the gir never came around.

So the day I was fired I was taken out of the store and told I have been stealing company products. Which is actually hilarious because the older 'bosses' always came to the store a took home 'breakers'

I told him that are you serious you guys are the ones doing that, which shut him up and then he started to retell the story of the girls parents. Making it very clear he thought I was a rapist.

Soon after , my partner at the time at the job tried to clear my name as he knew the truth but it did not help. WHAT THEY DO is say the store I was working at changed their policy to having only people 21 years or older working at the store.

So now I am unemployed and receiving unemployment. At the time I really loved my job. I literally worked 48+ hours nearly every week for one year, I also felt as if I was considered the work horse doing all the physical labor at the store while my partner would usually handle the talking. Everyone fed me the idea this job could be a career. Looking back I wasted so much effort for nothing?

The boss that fired me went on to say that the company had to fire me there 'hands were tied' because the girls parents threatened to sue the company and the store I worked at. Which goes to show she didn't know who to be mad at she just wanted to get the point across the action had to be done. As if the parents had to prove that it wasnt there OWN FAULT.

What can I do now? Is there any way for legal action or just take it and move on? Or keep on bitching.

cheers

Update:

not a union job

ultimately your boss has to take these allegations very seriously. and you CAN be fired for any reason or no reason at all... they HAD to take action... it just happened to turn out bad for you.

Well since you were financially affected your only recourse pretty much would be to sue the parents. You may be able to sue your employer as well for discrimination if they did not follow a written procedure for disciplinary action as they did with other employees in the past. The first step would be to contact the EEOC. http://www.eeoc.gov/

The gray areas you will run into are:

    Employer's change of policy

Defamation of character on the part of the parents

The argument is going to be that the employer acted solely on the comments and actions of the parents without any solid proof. Also, that the parents acted on their own without any solid proof.

See if you can find a lawyer who will take the case for a percentage of the back wages. The company will probably settle once they find out they are being sued. If you have to hire a lawyer and pay up front, then it probably wouldn't be worth it.

You should probably follow that little snitch the next time she goes out to get hammered, and call her parents, tell them you saw her with some people. Have them go pick her up in front of all her friends. If that doesnt work, definitely dont plant a bomb in the parents room, wink wink. Sound like A$$holes to me. I wouldnt put up with that bs.

In the US employment is at-will, which means that unless there is a contract in place your employer can terminate you for any reason not prohibited by law such as gender, race, etc. The employer choose to believe the accusations against you and terminated you for them. Your employer was acting within his legal authority to do such.

Find another job, thats all you can do.

attack is the final kind of defence So dont watch for them to do their element. You do yours now in case you have the info you assert you have then you definately've stable info which you have been brushed off as a effect of being implicated in theft for the reason that it fairly is an offence then you definately could properly have stable grounds to sue for libel.to boot as unfair dismissal.
