In the Hindu faith, can a rakhi be temporarily removed or must it stay tied to the wrist?

Hinduism is a practical faith, so BE PRACTICAL.
tying the rakhi for long may harbour germs in the threads. You can remove the rakhi whenever you want. I remove it the day after the festival.

Many Bhandanams (Symblic tying) is temporary only--Same way Raakhi--the Love between a biological sister and biological brother is PERMANENT-On aparticular day --Sravana Poornima tying a thread is just to remind that love--so the thread Raakhi is Temporary--but the LOVE is eternal.
