If you were me would you get this car?
So there is this used 2003 VW Beetle convertible that I have fallen in love with. It is listed at 8,990, but I think I might be able to talk them down a little. Right now I'm working as a licensed practical nurse and my job is really stable. However, I am going to start school back up to get my RN in May of 2010. This program will be pretty expensive, and I will likely need to take out student loans for it anyway. The car I have now is well running, but is getting realllllly old. It is a 97 chevy caviler and has 167,800 miles. I mean nothing is really wrong with it, but I will need one one day....
Anyway, if you were me, what would you do?!?!?
Best answer for the person with the best advice!!! :)

Is it from a owner or from a company?
If it is from the owner I would talk him down to 8k flat because it is not a popular car
( as no man will get it.) Besides 8k is about the right price, I am guessing it is around 90k miles give or take 10 so He is asking too much because he figures he will be low balled anyways.
When you buy it list on the title transfer you got it for $1000, every used car I buy I list it as bought for a fraction of the price. No red flags come up if you put down ANY price as opposed to always getting it as a "gift." So your tax will be lowered and in most states your resigration will be lowered as well.
You will drive away with it for about 8.3 after you buy insurance.
It is time you get a new car because a caviler with 167k miles is likley to start breaking down soon and you will end up putting $$$ into repair. I would just sell it to make back some of your cash from your new VW.

Don't buy a convertible. Buy a VW that is the lowest miles for your budget. Sounds like you are on a good course to having a successful career and life. Student loans are a great load on one's financial life. Once you pay off the student loans, then reward yourself with a wonderful NEW convertible! You will be so proud of yourself and ----->Happy!
