I would ride it. I would make sure I had a signed bill of sale though.

A motorcycle permit wont cut it.

Like a car, you need a permit and licence plate.

You must haul it home via a pickup truck or a trailer, or, you can ask the seller to deliver it to you for some extra cash, I've done that before for a couple items.

You can, in most States, drive it home with your bill of sale, most Officers won't hassle you about it if it shows that you just bought it and were driving it home. You will on the other hand have to provide proof of insurance.

And get your bike registered before you drive it anywhere else.

Or you can just go the easy route as the other person stated and have it hauled home to avoid any kind of problems.

In this state, you need a plate.

If bought from a dealer, they may provide a temporary.

Otherwise, you get a temp. from DMV.

Or get the full-up registration and real plate.....but I usually wait for that one because it means going to the town offices first. Short hours that don't click with my schedule.

Riding with a permit is fine, as long as you stay within the permit's limitations.
