Cheap foods for a Family of 7?

My boyfriend and I have 5 children. They range in ages 2-7. (3 are mine and 2 are his). I am totally set on breakfast and lunch, it's cheap and easy, no problem. I am not on any sort of assistance for food, and we are sort of limited to a budget as my daughters' father decided to quit his job and I no longer receive his support for them. My boyfriend has a pretty good job, but I don't want us to get behind on our bills. Seems to be one thing after another here. Anyway, I am stuck for cash for at least the remainder of this week. I am wondering if you know of any kid friendly, cheap as they come dinner ideas? Thank you!

I am one of 6 children (youngest brother is 3) so I know what you mean! I agree with the person with 7 siblings don't fix any special meals for the picky eaters they will eat when hungry.

Often we eat spaghetti with meat sauce! Garlic Bread and Salad

    Tacos

Pork Chops with Real Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans or Sliced Tomatoes

    Chili with Cornbread

You can buy a rotisserie chicken and shred it and make chicken salad, chicken soup or sprinkle on top of salad.

Once a week do a pot luck or a good old fashioned boil-up where you goo through all of the leftovers in the fridge, the part bags of frozen veggies in the freezer and open a can or two and just cook it all up and have with spuds, pasta or rice.

As one of 8 I am familiar with what is accumulated as left overs and it was a favourite meal as Mum did her magic in the kitchen,

We generally had a roast lamb leg Sunday Lunch and in the evenings we would have croquettes and buttered bread to eat in the lounge in front of the TV, all we had to do was wait our turn.

A slice of fried Luncheon Sausage and onions as a sandwich was always another favourite.

Cook some savaloys cut in half and wrap in a slice of buttered bread and a squirt if tomato sauce and bingo

A sizzled sausage with onions is often done outside some supermarkets and such places in town from time to time are often used as fund raisers for sports teams, around the lunchtime period.

OK they are not brilliant meals, but the fill the bellies and are often cheaper than buying burgers for your tribe as Mum called us.

For small kids it will be a piece of cake, wait until they are teenagers and you will be like a short order cook.

    Lastly

Show no mercy for picky eaters, they either eat what is made, or go without, as someone else will always eat it, but don't allow greed either and teach them on sharing.

The best way to stretch your food dollar is to make foods from scratch, use lots of carbohydrates to fill people up quickly, dice meat and put it into sauces, and try to buy seasonal, on-sale items. Pastas and rice fill people up quickly. Macaroni and Cheese, Spaghetti, and Stir fries all use less expensive ingredients. By dicing up meat or using ground meat you can stretch 3-4 chicken breasts or 1 lb. of hamburger to feed 7 people easily. Think about stews that use cheaper cuts of meat and slow cooking to make the meat tender. Whole chicken is quite a bit cheaper per pound than boneless, skinless breasts, 1 5 lb. whole chicken should feed seven easily. Consider a meatless meal. Cooking dried pinto beans you can turn them into burritos which I think are pretty kid friendly. Buying things on sale and using coupons can help as well. Not sure how fussy your kids are but I think most would eat spaghetti, burritos, and mac & cheese.

if you wanna go ghetto style you can buy a lot of ramen noodles. they were once like 10cents for one pack of noodles so i think thats pretty cheap. $1 would get you 10 packs which is like enough for 7 people. i know healthy stuff is more expensive thats ****** up. thats the only cheap *** food i know ive i dont buy my food my mom does.
