I'm new to the whole car registration process and I just want to make sure I have enough money to register my car before I go to the dmv. Do I pay sales tax on my car? The car I bought was 6 grand so I would have to pay 480 in tax alone

== telephone the DMV in your area and ask those questions that are of concern to you ....there are several things you will be required to pay ... plan ahead and find out how much you must pay ..and if you have insurance you will need to prove that to register the car in NY....
