Are upper middle class people rich/wealthy ?

theyre not, I can tell you that from expeirience...we live in an "upscale" neighborhood, my dad makes a "white-collar" salary at the phone company (verizon) as an electrical engineer ($100k plus), and I can honestly say sometimes it feels like we are in need at the rough points but its easy to understand were blessed when you see what little others around you have...to be honest, were the low class of the neighborhood, maybe last of 2nd to. but we still have it better than some, its not something i think about, and if i do i usually come to the same conclusion, were "average" we dont wear brand names, dont drive nice or even decent cars, and were always looking for a bargain. but we get along...and we are not in danger of starving anytime soon

I guess I would be considered middle class according to your link. I can say that I do own a house, 2 modest cars, and a small fishing boat that I saved for years to buy. I live in California and my 6 figure income is barely enough to pay the bills. We are heavily taxed already. Between federal income tax, state income tax, and property tax I paid nearly 35K last year. That is not even including what I paid in sales tax. All these taxes and I am forced to send my child to private school to get a decent education because the public school system is so crappy here. We are paying enough. Our backs can't hold any more weight. Every thing I have I worked my butt off for. This is America, anyone can do the same.

There are 400 in the U.S. that are officially "rich," and most of them are Republicans.

To me "Upper Class" is one who can live within their means and stil lhave cash saved and vacations a few time per year .
