Pre calc problem? Help?

I'm trying to solve this pre calc problem "Insert 3 geometric means between 2 and 162" and I got up to the part where it's

an=a1r ^(n-1)

162=2r ^(4)

81=r ^(4)

How do I get rid of the 4 simply? I'm in 12th grade so I don't think it should be this complicated answer but I could be wrong!

    r^4 = 81 get the 4th root of 81

    r = ∜(81)

    r = 3 answer//
