I'm thinking about drinking green tea to help my weight loss...?
I read that, if someone plans to lose weight or boost their metabolism, they need to drink up to 7 CUPS A DAY. I wouldn't mind doing that but the problems is that I don't think I could do that much in the free time I have. I'm a high school student and I don't get home til around 4pm on most days and then I work out. I drink/like it hot, so I really would not like drinking it cool or iced, that sounds disgusting to me. Do I really have to drink that much a day to help my weight loss?

The amount of tea you have to drink is in direct correlation with the potency of the tea. The main elements thought to be most critical to green tea's metabolism boosting effects (catechin polyphenols, especially EGCG (or epigallocatechingallate) and caffeine) are present in varying amounts, largely dependent on the quality of the tea.
One study, for example, found taking taking a green tea extract containing 50 mg caffeine and 90 mg EGCG three times a day lead to a 4% increase in metabolism.
Does your green tea contain the equivalent amount of these two compounds? Most of the time, it's impossible to know, therefore it's also impossible to authoritatively state how many cups of tea you would need to drink to duplicate these results. If you're drinking a grocery store brand, probably a lot. If you're drinking a loose green tea sourced from the best fields in China, significantly less.
One thing to keep in mind; while green tea definitely exhibits some effects beneficial to dieters, its effects are quite subtle. A 4% increase in metabolism will equate to an additional 60-100 calories burned per day for the average individual. While this is statistically significant, it's not going to make a huge difference, given that a pound of stored fat is equivalent to almost 3,500 calories.

I'm a die hard black tea drinker, which is great for immune system. Don't know much about the green tea, but as a health conscience person I can tell you 6-8 glasses of water do wonders in maintaining weight. Keeps your body hydrated, and keeps your stomach from feeling empty. They suggest this to people who have a tendency to eat when bored. Replace it with a glass of water, takes care of the oral habit.

Drink it: I have been able to maintain my weight loss since 2 years--however, you got to drink 3-5 cups per day--and if you can't do that then it might be better to take a green tea extract. Both of them work and I think they work well!!
