What are George Washington's arguments for independence from the British?

I need a little help, I've been looking all over the internet and in my text book, but I can't find any quotes or excerpts stating what Washington's arguments were for independence. Like why did he want independence, please I need some help.

It wasn't George Washington who argued for independence, he was just a military man who followed the orders of the Continental Congress! It was the leaders of the 13 colonies, and the main argument was "taxation with out representation!". Look up the "Boston Tea Party". England had created a tax on Tea to support their armies based around the world, and that was not acceptable at a time when all of the colonies drank tea (not coffee)
