How long does it take?

An ball is dropped from 6.0m above the ground. This means that the initial velocity is 0m/s. Ignoring air resistance, how long does it take before it hits the ground? What is the formula to figure this out too please. I want to know how to figure it out, not just the answer. Thanks.
