No. You'd be better off upgrading your low end processor

I dont know why people are saying getting more than 4gb is good. If any one can name me a game which will take your total ram use above about 3gb i will eat my computer.

Even Crysis + a dvd + the internet running doesnt take my PCs ram usage above 3gb. (try running games and pressing ctrl alt del and going to the performance tab. See how much ram is actually being used by games, you will be surprised)

4gb is a good amount as it is more than you need but ram comes in 1gb or 2gb sticks and most computers have 2 or 4 ram slots so it adds up nicely.

Also look very carefully at what graphics card you are buying, about 80% of a games performance is dependant on the graphics card in my opinion.

Actually upgrading the Motherboard and Processor will do you more good than upgrading the RAM.

Games mostly depend on the Processor and video card.

Yes, the RAM and Video RAM do work together but you only need enough ram to store the executable file of a game. I played Left4Dead2 and it only used 600MB of my ram during game play.

You have the fastest ram for the video card which is DDR5.

Another thing if you want to increase FPS is lower your graphics in the settings. If you don't want to spend the money

If you have 3GB of ram on a "factory" machine with that processor the likely hood is your using a 32bit OS so you wont see any ram beond 3.25-3.5GB. Besides your mother board may only take up to 4GB of ram so putting in 8GB will not have any effect. You about at the limit of that machine and only a new mother board, CPU, Ram, 64 bit OS, and video card will give you higher performance.

And/or a faster video card. Likely your CPU/video card are your bottlenecks. It looks like the GTS 450 is a mid range card and the E5200 is the mid to low end of that CPU family. A faster socket 775 CPU and a faster video card would likely see you decent improvement if you could afford the upgrades.

what games are you playing and what FPS are you getting?

If you are using a 64 bit operating system it might.

Not a lot of games use large amounts of ram, so most will be fine with 3-4gb.

However, if you have more than 4gb of ram in a 32bit operating system, you will not be able to use it as there are not enough memory addresses to allocate to the extra ram.

Probably not much unless you are playing games at a really high resolution (1920x1080 or above).

You might find that you can run more programs at once without Windows slowing down. You won't be able to use any more RAM than you have if your copy of Windows is only 32Bit.
