Why has prices for food risen?

    Gas prices go up, so everything that is transported by truck, train, plane or boat also goes up in price.

    Also, people are spending less, so companies raise prices on necessities so they don't lose (as much) money.

    Yes, welcome to deflation.

    When Pres. Bush left office Regular gas was about $1.87 gal.

    It's now about $3.69 a gal. Doubled.

    Cost's more to get the food to us and the increase is passed down to us buying the food.

    There is no reason oil should cost so much. The Oil companies are money hungry jerks. Tree huggers don't want us to bring our own oil up from the ground in USA so we have to depend of foreign oil.
