Royal Marines or Parachute Regiment?
m just after a bit of insight. I recently failed my medical for the RAF Regiment but i can still be a Marine or Para. Originally i was going to go for para but a load of ex-army instructors i know told me not to go anywhere near the paras as there is a lot of bullying and peer pressure in the paras and apparently they are the worst in the army for behavior. I was gutted to hear this as i was rather interested in it. They recommended i look at the Royal Marines as they are 'thinking soldiers' and very professional in comparison to the paras and ''would never fight each other as they are a brotherhood'' . Is what they were saying true? as im currently leaning more towards the Marines. Thanks in advance
Thank you all for the advice , i failed the medical due to having a color perception score of 4 but i have consulted the afco and they have said that having a CP of 4 wont stop an application the the Army or the Marines

Well its a fact that the royal marines are a better force than paratroopers.
Royal marines training is quite a bit harder, but both are Elite Forces.
RM are part of the navy, whereas paras are army.
RM usually go into the other special service, the SBS-which are known t be slightly tougher than the SAS.
But if you went RM you can still get into the SAS, just volunteer for sas rather than sbs.
Personally I'd say go royal marines. They are a bigger force than the Paras (about 7000 marines compared to 2000 paras) so you'd have more chance of promotion now anyway.
Also, dont join the paras thinking you'll be jumping out of planes alot-they do that a few times in training but not much after that.
With the marines you can specialise in anything such as sniper etc, and the marines regularly go ski training and training in different countries

Hi
Whilst your friend is correct, can I suggest you join the army but get a trade so that when you come out your employability has more chances. Imagine you go in as a marine and you have to leave injury timed served. Go to your local Army Careers centre and discuss your desires there.
They will answer your questions without the Bull S**T

Being a former Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Div, I'd say get your knees in breeze, mate.

if you go marines you will be able to go by so parachute like the para's
and also by subs and vehicles
and more people will respect you because you are pretty much in special forces go marines
