The Christian Bible was written by the Second Century CE, and canonized (officially approved) by the Fourth Century. The classic Mayans period was from about 250 to 900 CE, with a general decline after that until the colonists came in the 1500s. The Mayans have no "rapture". (Neither does the Bible, for that matter.) They had gods, but no chariots, firey or otherwise.

The extent of your question runs like this. Moses climbed up a mountain about 4,000 years ago and wrote the first five books of the bible that would be the Old Testament today. Over the course of 1500 years, the Jews wrote other books that would fill the rest of the Old Testament. This testament standing as the only scripture recognized by both Jews and Christians.

About 1800 years ago, the first book of the New Testament was written. Its been my understanding the bible was finished 1500 years ago.

However, that's in reference to the canonical bible. There are dozens of other books and scriptures written and regarded as "inspired works," but because they don't fit in with the overall story of the mainstream bible, they were not included.

Many were lost to time. Some were almost lost but found in archeological digs. Others are either in private collections or the Vatican Vault. And no, its not a conspiracy, as the Vatican acknowledges owning these noncanonical scriptures.

I hope you take the time to look some of these questions up. Relying on the Yahoo community for historical and spiritual advice might be a little risky.

The Bible was written from around 3500 BC to about 200AD, and assembled by the Roman Emperor Constantine. The Mayan civilization came after the bible was assembled, on the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico.

The Mayans made many predictions and observations, and were the first people to understand the concept of zero in mathematics. They are currently famous for their calendar, which accurately predicted to the day, the demise of their people, and indicates the end of the fourth age of man on December 20, 2012. There is no specific allusion to the end of the world.

The Old Testament over a period of 4000 years or so, from oral history.

The New Testament, about 300 years of oral history, and the final decision as to what it would contain, made by 200 bishops in 330 CE in the city of Nicenae, in what is now modern Turkey.

No. Much of scripture was written some 5000 years before Christ came. The Mayans lived about 2000 years before.

There is no exact date of the Bible's original writing. It had many authors over many years, however the first [translation of the Bible from Hebrew to English was done by Fr. Jerome in about the 4th century.

The earliest New Testament manuscript is a gospel of John from 125AD.

Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Leviticus and Numbers were written by Moses thousands of years earlier.

    God bless.

    Hello,

So far as we know, it started to be recorded around 3,500 years ago by Moses, was completed by the apostle John toward the end of the first century C.E. (AD).

So, around 1,600 years, by about 40 different writers.

    Kind regards, Günter
