How soon before Philippine Airlines goes out of business?

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is having a strike right now. The cause of the strike is that many of the employees jobs are going to be outsourced. The Philippines as a country has a low cost labor force. PAL is also in trouble financially since they lost the United States FAA category 1 status and are now Category 2 and are on the EU no fly list. PAL gets 40% of their revenue from 6 airports attached to either North America or the United States. PAL is not allowed to expand into more American markets without a wet lease unless they get the Category 1 status back. At this time PAL is bleeding cash. I give them a week any takers they will last longer?

Update:

We flew them last year from MNL to CEB talk about a flight to hell. We usually fly Cathay out of JFK via Hong Kong to CEB. There was an issue that we had to fly China Airlines another dog show but not as bad as PAL. The NAIA airport looks nice but it is very unsafe I saw chained emergency exits.

PAL may very well be in trouble but even if it is then being the national carrier and if it goes broke the Makati crew will have to step in and Bail it out. No Govt, not even that Makati bunch of corrupt no hopers can allow it's national carrier to go bust. If it does, it will end up being taken over by the Govt who will move heaven and earth to find a suitable buyer, and they will as they will offer many, many incentives to both keep it going and also to get it off their hands.

Don't worry about it , as whatever happens to it financially, it will still operate. Can you imagine the absolute shame and embarrassment that will be heaped on the Philippines if the Govt does NOT back it up?

It will never happen , too much a very hot political item and potentially global wide embarrassment for the Makati lot to let it happen.

I'll give it a year or two. I flew Philippine Airlines just once from Los Angeles to Manila, amd boy it was hell experience for me! long hours of delay cause something wrong with the engines and not enough gas which they didnt realize at the last minute!

Whenever I go to the Philippines every year, I fly either Japan or Korean airlines instead. Its more beautiful! Especially their business classes!!!!

Probably a year. I rode PAL once and it was a horrible experience.. probably because the plane was so old. Aside from that, their ticket prices aren't that cheap for a old plane when there are airlines that are way cheaper with a nice plane and good service.

Hopefully soon, we can't afford anymore seeing these life-threatening flying garbage trucks on our aerospace.
