Should undocumented students get financial aid?
If they stayed here for a long time, should they get the same opporunities then legal students?
I'm in my 20s and attending a college. I came here from the Philippines legally, thanks to my American father. I deserved financial aid not illegal immigrants. How dare they!!!!!
No matter what country your from, if you wanna study here you should pay out of your own pockets!
California is having talks wether or not illegal immigrants students should get financial aid also.

I do not believe illegals should be getting financial aid. There are plenty of disadvantaged Americans in need of assistance to go to school.

Sure. If they've done the work, put in the effort, are academically qualified and are residents of the state then they should get the education they've earned. Their parents pay the sales and property taxes that pay for the ed systems.
These kids you're asking about were brought here as infants and children and, for all intents and purposes, are "from here". Why not label someone brought to California from Minnesota when they were an infant a non-resident, too? As a member of a long-time CA family, I wouldn't mind seeing all the out-of-staters treated like the foreign colonists they are. We had a nice state until it filled up with Mid-Westerners and Southerners.
What's not fair is letting an all-American slacker who spends more time demanding what's due him that he hasn't earned than reading get the financial aid that should be given according to academic merit.

No,,,,,aid for any illegal aliens,,,,that only encourages more illegal aliens.
In fact if you are an illegal alien in the USA for years and years and you are not even trying to become legal then you deserve to be deported.
Our government has refused to enforce immigration laws for 40 years now and our tax dollars are being wasted. TIme to revolt.
The democrat party buys the illegal vote with promise of amnesty and illegal driver license.

If you are addressing the California proposal, illegal immigrant students would NOT get any financial aid until EVERY other person applying had been given aid, and if there was then money left over. You need to factor that in to your consideration of "fairness." (Of course, nobody else answering this question will consider that point.)
ADD: I think the thumbs down and the uninformed comments which follow merely prove my final point.

As a former employer, I have always been puzzled that we give undocumented students financial aid, we allow them to pay in-state tuition, they take the place in college of students who are citizens, but then when they graduate, it is a crime if we hire them! That doesn't make sense.

These "illegal immigrants" you're speaking of have been living on this land for years and years, since before European settlers colonized this land. Documented or not this is their land not yours. You call yourself a legal immigrant but did you have the Native Americans' permission before settling in America?

we don't have the money to pay anyone's way through school. let alone paying for non legal residence to go through school
illegal means its illegal.

Rick Perry and Obama believe that you should pay more so that illegals can get free schooling.
Oh yea I can't wait to vote for that ****.
