What is a chattel ? any body clearly explain it to me ?

    Chattel can mean slaves or goods, as in "treating women as chattel."

    Slaves were sold or traded like goods, and they were called chattel or chattels.

    A man's wife and daughters, and any minor children, were also treated like chattel; they did not have individual rights.
