Why does Canada open it's doors to anyone?

Coastguard vessels caught up to a boat of Somalian Pirates, carrying armed gunmen and a 66-year-old wheel-chair bound woman who they kidnapped from Manda Island, off Kenya's northern coast.
Somali pirates had fired into the air in an attempt to scare off the coastguard and a circling aircraft.
In the latest kidnapping, Manda Island residents said an armed gang landed on the beach around 3am and raided the woman's thatched cottage.
It is the second kidnapping incident to happen near Lamu in a month.
British woman Judith Tebbutt, 56, and husband David, 58, were guest at a luxury resort. Judith was taken from the Kiwayu Safari Village after they killed her husband.

Canada does not do enough background checks on so called 'Political Asylum Seekers'.
Of course, Somalian Pirates will be put in prison or killed if they got caught.
And they come here knowing the Canadian government will protect them, and the hard working tax payer will keep them. And the only trade they know, is criminal.
So why does Canada open it's doors to anyone?

Nowhere in your misinformed rant have you connected Canada with Somali pirates. Somali pirates don't immigrate to Canada. Somali citizens, some of whom are alleged to have been pirates, do. Those citizens seeking refuge in Canada deserve and are entitled to a full review of their circumstances in accordance with the Canadian Charter and applicable Canadian laws.
Now, IF you are talking about Canadian warships operating in the gulf intercepting Somali pirates and turning them loose once caught you will need to take a look at international law and the internationally accepted rules of engagement that all warships working to protect shipping in the Gulf are operating under. It is not Canada's decision to "catch and release". It is the rules and laws, international rules and laws as well as the conditions imposed by the UN which cause us to take such action.
Other then that, go do some more research and then come back and try again.

That's a huge leap from the Somalian pirate incident to Canada's open door policies. Better you do some serious research, dude.
It is very difficult to get into Canada as a legitimate immigrant and Stephen Harper is working on making it more difficult. Especially those seeking refugee status or political asylum.

I'm baffled. What is the connection between Somalian pirates operating in the Somalian area and the Canadian government. You haven't shown any connection between them. You do not show any links to prove the pirates have asked for poltical asylum here. Nor any links to prove asylum has been granted.
People have their asylum applications denied all the time because of security checks. Canada doesn't open it's doors to "anyone". Are there problems with the system? Yes. But it's not the open door policy you seem to think it is.

Short answer is, Canada doesn't open its door to everyone. Immigration Canada does a thorough check on each applicant. This is why it can take up to five years for approval. If an applicant does have a criminal connection or is in association with known terrorist groups, they are denied entry.
I don't know where you got the impression that we allow anyone into the country. Perhaps you should double check your source of facts.

You're not making any rational sense.
Claiming Canada opens its doors to anyone doesn't prove that Canada does.
Complaining Canada's immigration policies are insufficient doesn't prove they are.
Implying some connection between Canadian policy & Somali piracy doesn't prove one exists.
Where's the proof that substantiates your beliefs and allegations?

The honest answer is to keep downward pressure on wages.
That's the truth..and to create social division. Of course idiots will say, oh no, that's not politically correct, so we've got to make up a lie, like Canadians have always been in favour of an open door policy. Yeah, right, B.S.
@ Shawn: 300,000+ immigrants every year is proof enough of an open door policy don't you think? Or how about just opening your eyes.
