Because Congress will not voluntarily vote to limit their reign of political power by limiting the time they can serve and hold office. The only way Congressional term limits will become a reality is if the voters can get enough States (36) and registered voters to bring the issue to the next National Election to force an Amendment to the Constitution. With the current political division and anger in the States it isn't very likely to happen very quickly.

Term limits are always being discussed, but you've got to remember, to get term limits, a constitutional amendment must be passed, and that amendment must first be passed by both houses of Congress. Seriously, do you think these self serving twits would pass a law that would kick them off the gravy train?
Wouldn't you love it if just one of those robber barons would suggest that, since budget cuts have cost thousands of people their jobs and others have been forced to take pay cuts, that Senators and Representatives should take a pay cut too, say 15% and a cut in the size of their staffs as well. I'd even include appointees such as the secretary of this or that. Both of us know that's just not going to happen. It's a lot easier to cut the Medicare of some old lady who has to choose between food and medicine.
