Why do some baseball pitchers wear gold necklaces on the mound?

Update:

It's like they're copying Willie Mays Hayes from that Major League movie. (The players shouldn't be allowed to wear jewelry on the field.) (not an answer)

It's a placebo you know those bracelets that are SUPPOSED to "improve your balance" even though it has no actual effect and it's not just pitchers either it's a lot of guys though the the number is decreasing because they are starting to realize it doesn't work hope I helped (: it's raining here so I'm bored

The "rope" is a necklace made by technique of Phiten. those necklaces are lined with liquid titanium and are meant to alleviate soreness and advance your basic overall performance as an athlete.

Because they think there are thieves in the clubhouse. They also put their wallets and gold watches in their pockets.

I dunno, cause they look better than silver necklaces.
