i found someone breaking into my garage..they were inside...i beat them so bad now they are in a coma and may die.they said i could be charged with a crime because i was to exessive..

They could charge you yes.
You could have subdued him without putting him into a coma.

Yes, you could be charged with using excessive force. You did not have to beat the intruder into a coma to subdue him. If he dies within a year of this incident, you could also be charged with murder or manslaughter.

Okay wow! You realize unless that was VERY excessive. You killed a person because they were in your garage? REALLY! It's called calling the police NOT killing them.

Yes, it is possible that you could be charged. The charges could be as serious as homicide or aggravated assault or they could be as benign as simple assault.
