Ok, so to start with i should clearly state ** I AM NOT INVOLVED IN ANY PART OF THIS**  i do not fancy a teacher, nor does any fancy me, i just want to know some more on the issue. What, apart from the obvious (losing their job) is so bad? is it the age gap? The power imbalance? Taking advantage of a particular situation?
I want to know because i just want to know why people have a go at people who even fancy their teachers? You cant help who you like, and its a free country? What if the student and teacher are responsible and the relationship (flirting for example) is only outside of school? Are there any circumstances, where it is acceptable?

Well, the main reason that this is a big issue is because: a) Usually, the students are underage, and b) The teachers will be bias in their class.  This is what I mean by this:  If you were a teacher, and your gf/bf was in your class, and they did poorly on a test, would you still fail them; or would you just bump up their grade because you love them?  It gets to the point where the student is just not learning the material that is important in the class, and that the teacher is letting this happen.  These are just a few of the many, many reasons why this is illegal.
