Can i get my Federal Work Study job tax withholdings back?
I'm in college working a FWS job and this year the federal government has withheld more than $100. I'm wondering come April first IF I should file a 1040EZ (I think that's the one) and also, would I be able to get those withholdings back i.e. am I exempt?
total earnings for the year shouldn't be more than $3000

We here on yahoo answers would NOT have any way of knowing any of the needed necessary required information that only you should available to you to even try and make any kind of GUESS here at this time in your life. BUT it usually is NOT a good idea to claim to be EXEMPT from the withholding of the federal income tax amounts at all.
Probably NOT any of the FICA social security medicare tax amounts unless you would meet the requirements for this purpose and usually the school or payer of the amounts would know and should be able to tell you about this matter if you will just go ask them about it.
Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 10/05/2011

Depends on how much money you made total for the year. If under 5800, you can get back anything withheld for federal income tax. If you made over that, you are required to file, and might get some of it back.

If your tax liability is less than what was withheld, you'll get a refund of the difference. You are not exempt from taxation, though you may not have made enough to have any tax liability. Huge difference!

you don't furnish enough information to tell you that you will get it back
but you will only know for sure by filing the 1040EZ and it should not be difficult, especially when you can free efile at www.irs.gov
