Why are most college professors liberal?

because they are smart, conservative people don't qualify

Depends on the field. Not just business professors, but engineering professors tend to be conservative or neutral.

History professor tend to be liberal, but far from radical. I have noticed a split in political science professors, though the conservative ones usually do not publish outside of professional journals as much as the liberal ones do.

In the "studies" areas, professors with no particularly speciality, those are very liberal. They also seem to most close minded and arrogant. They believe they are experts outside of their field. Some are very intelligent (Noam Chomsky, a linguist who claims to be an expert on world politics) and some are very dense (Ward Churchill, a self-proclaimed expert in enthic studies but only has degrees in communications).

Education.

The more sheltered and secure your work environment, the more you spout off nonsense. College professors work in academia because they can't cut it in the real world. Easy to promote utopia when you don't have to worry about finding a job.

because they have never worked in the free market.

they have never worried about being profitable in order to make a living.

in their narrow life histories, money comes auto-magically. they think the same applies to the entire population.

Anecdotes to not equal trends. Your personal experience, while valid to you, does not prove that "most college professors are liberal."

Because the opposite of liberal is either of the two following:

- US richclass slaving thief

- US richclass ignorant sycophant

Many college professors select not to be one of the above. However, many college professors are in fact US richclass slaving thieves -- you'll find them in the business colleges.

They work for the government(public universities) and naturally are democrats... Their pay check amount depends on tax dollars.

Go to a private university and try to find a liberal professor...

And i have never met people that were more closed minded than liberal college profs.

Because they are educated, rational, not-crazy people?
