Best class for solo PVP at 85?
I'm looking to get into WOW and I want to start a character that I will enjoy playing as once I'm 85.. I don't really like the whole pets thing so i'm thinking about a going with a mage.. but are warriors really that bad in solo PVP? What do you guys think?

No, it's all about the skills and not so much about class. Mage is more fun though, it requires a lot of skill. If you're a beginner, go with warrior. They do quite some burst and tank quite a large amount of physical damage. Might even be able to 1v2.
As for mage, you really need to know your class and other classes very well before you can 1v2.
Get the hang of the game first.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is a great addition to the series. There are always winers with every expansion who claim "they ruined the game forever, I'm never coming back." If you liked WoW in the past you'll probably like it now, and with the complete remake of Azeroth, if you have never played the game, now is the time to start. If you like MMORPGs this is a great one.

Depends on your play style.
Personally, I used to be a fan of using Druid with boomkin/resto spec but I haven't played since WotLK came out.
Go with the old standby of rogue though.
