By "old", I assume you mean anything that has been proven to work before.

Make working in this country affordable. Regulations kill jobs.

The current administration's policy of increasing government taxing and spending, in an attempt to reduce unemployment, is exactly like feeding a tapeworm, and then wondering why the patient isn't getting any better.

They don't have a workable plan. They fail to see that cutting spending results in cutting the economy, because almost everything the government spends goes into the US economy.
This is not to say that spending doesn't need to be cut--I think we can agree on that. It's just that cutting spending is going to worsen the economy, because it's going to take money out of the economy. The reason it needs to be done is because the money it'll be taking out of the economy is money we're borrowing. Borrowing and spending is great for the economy in the short-term, but disastrous in the long-term. Spending needs to be cut AND taxes need to be raised, this is the only way to avoid catastrophic expansion of the debt.
The real reason our economy is suffering is because of capitalism. If your workers are making $10 an hour and your competitors' workers are making $1 an hour, you either go out of business, or you relocate to where the workers can live on $1 an hour. It's just that simple. American companies continually outsource in order to keep from being put out of business by competitors who offer goods and services at far cheaper prices because their labor costs are so much less. That's elementary capitalism. The tea partiers don't address that, because ultimately they think that the answer is to stop taxing businesses and the rich, and this will cause magical unicorns to sprinkle fairy dust into the economy and thereby provide high-paying jobs for every American.
