Are democrats really for democracy? Should they even be called democrats?
A democracy is 50%+1 rules. So how can a Democrat have any opinion outside of what the majority wants? Or maybe they really do have a different belief? Maybe something that has already been tried many times and failed?

tried and failed, like the tax cuts for the rich that Bush signed, that republicans want?
Or tried and succeeded like fairly taxing the rich like in the Clinton years?

Because the majority rule here is not 50% + 1. The GOP wanted it to be 60%. So it is not the democrats who want it that way. Sometime the 50% +1 leaves 49% of the population without voice and 49% that is a lot of people. Look how many wanted the public option in the whole US. 68% wanted the public option but in the congress the 50% +1 left 68% of the population without what they wanted. 68% is a very large portion of the population, so democracy, no matter which party is in is up to the congress and senate. And they all have one vote whether they represent districts with a large population or a small population. That is why in this country there is no majority rules system. Look, when Bush became president, he was GIVEN the presidency based on a technicality even though the Democrat got the majority of votes. So, it is not the Democrats it is just the corruption of the system by a wealthy minority.

Politicians of any persuasion are for their particular party's beliefs. Republicans and Democrats are for big government, because the bigger government becomes the more power they have. Both political parties would love to institute a political system that centralizes power in a federal government that completely controls all aspects of life.
The aspirations of all politicians is to increase their own power. It is not really important to politicians which side of an issue to come down on, it is important to come down on the side of that issue which they believe will win them the most votes from their constituents.
The two party system, as it exists in present day America, gives us a choice of Liberal extreme, the Democrats, or Liberal light, the Republicans. Neither party really wants to see a strict and literate interpretation of the Constitution, or a return to a small and responsible Federal government which acts within its limitations under that Constitution. This would strip them of the power they have amassed over the years for themselves and return it to the people and the states as it was originally designed to be.

Personally, I think they have problems with what they think they believe and what they do. There's a huge chasm between the two. Look at Michael Moore long time billionaire and radical talker and anti-establishment weirdo Democrat. He tears down our democracy while making his billions doing it and saying that he is for it. Does this sound like a sane thinker? Look up his financial portfolio - it's published on the internet at least the part that he own millions of shares of companies like GE, IBM, Microsoft etc., you know the companies that he's protesting against in New York. I just don't see stable thinking but mostly "pie in the sky" fluff with that party.
