Please someone explain what is meant by corporate greed?

I get corporate corruption. I get cronyism and behind the scene deals. And I agree those are not good things but they really don't fit under the category of corporate greed. So what is it outsourcing? Is that it or is there more?

    Profit.

Believe it or not there are people out there who simply oppose the concept of profit. How they expect a corporation to exist without profit is beyond me, but they seem to think it's possible.

When the rich are getting richer and richer and the poor are getting poorer and poorer. Big business has made record profits this year but the working class people of this nation do not have jobs. The income gap between the rich and working class has grown steadily since 1974. Corporations have made record profits and half of the working class have had to swallow their pride and ask for government assistance.

Much of the problem is the way the tax code is set up, taxes are lower on capital gains (trading of paper), than if they expand their business or hire people (manufacture goods)

We bailed them out and now they are just sitting on that money. We bailed them out and they turn around a few months later (and again this year) and give their officers huge bonuses.

    That my friend is greed.

Corporate greed is the idea that a corporation will do whatever it takes to make a profit or that they don't necessarily care who they harm to make a profit. So basically, profit > the individual. Outsourcing is an example of these. A company may outsource jobs by building a factory or whatever out of the country where they can hire workers for cheaper, but they will be harming the workers that had the jobs in the original country.

In 2006 when Bush made some deregulations on Wall street they made stocks out of mortgages. The money was flowing in and the rest of the world jumped in as well. Then came a time when the mortgages were not being paid that the stocks became worthless. Although it was no surprise they continued this practice because the greed was too overwhelming. Thus we are in the state we are in today.

CEO's taking 1000 times or 500 times the pay as their employees, in the 60"s it was 20-30 times and they did a pretty good job. Today the employees and the SHAREHOLDERS are getting screwed. There are more Corporate Jets than commercial airliners now.

    Here is the main thing.

There is a collusion between interlocking Boards of directors and the CEO's running companies.

    Bottom line.

They have setup compensation packages way too generous and not tied enough of it to long term performance.

What you get is very well payed CEO's who can make mega fortunes if they succeed and have to settle for just being rich if they fail.

Not sure how you fix it without government regulation.

But that won't happen when politicians are bought and sold like high priced whores.

It's rampant amongst conservative republicans who are wealthy and it has been endemic with that crowd for as long as I can remember and I turned 67 yesterday !!

Just keep an eye on many posters who describe, time and again just what it means.

I haven't the time to get into it.
