Question for Yankees fans only! Rebuilding?
We want pitching, correct? We certainly have hitting, even though it was non-existent.
Well, why not Roy Oswalt? He is 34. He would fit for a short term contract and fill in with the exit of AJ Burnett after next year.
Think about it. A.J. is gone that marks the entrance and now ready Dellin Betances. After Roy's short contract is done, Manny Banuelos will be ready. And if CC opts out...let him. Let him sign elsewhere and the type A free agent signing draft picks we get will make up for signing Oswalt.
Just have to trim n prune Nova. He has shades of Greg Maddux when he has his A-game going.
Who agrees? It is an easy short term method to bringing in the youth.
I didn't make the point clean enough. (No sarcasm) The point of Oswalt is an arm to keep the Yankees competitive for a short period of time while getting the final tweaks out with the younger arms. Yankees can stay competitive while home brewing. I want to be able to see them still be a fighting team just without the over rated and high *** pay roll for too much longer. Garcia and Colon are prime examples of low-risk high reward which the Yankees should focus on untill Betances and Banuelos are ready. The burden of the monster contracts are what kills these NY Players. Imagine ALL EYES ON YOU! YOU BETTER COME THROUGH! at every second of every play-off game. A-Rod I could carless about. He has his bouts with clutch performances, it is just too bad the misses over shadow how good and how much of a fighter he is.

Roy Oswalt isn't that great at all, and that other fan doesn't know a lot about baseball if he thinks the Yankees rotation this year will do well next. Did you see Texeira's numbers during the season? It's not the worst thing to have somebody who gives those kinds of numbers, but isn't the best in high pressure situations.

@ Wolfpack - I think you're the only one spreading rumors on the Yanks trading Teixeira and Swisher. I mean, Swisher has a $1 buyout or they pay him $10 Million. I don't know any team who wants an inconsistent hitter with mediocre defense and to pay him $10 mill. They'll wait for him to be released to sign him for a fraction of the salary.
And Teixeira had nearly 40 HR's and 111 RBI's. I don't know what you consider to be good, if you consider this to be terrible.

Now, to the question. The Yankees are NEVER in a rebuilding mode. They have too much money to need to do that. When free agents become available, they will sign them.
One thing to note. NEVER assume a pitching prospect will come up and lightup the Majors. There are always injuries to deal with and in New York, players don't get much slack, if any.
Knowing the Yankees, if these pitchers don't come up soon and pitch well, then they will be trade bait for a team that has good pitching, but won't have enough funds to sign them to a big contract.
As a Giants fan, I would think hard about trading Lincecum for someone like Cano and one of your pitching prospects. As much as I love Timmy, he's going to cost a heap of cash, and the Giants are going to have to eventually let one of their star pitchers go... So, why not trade the one that's going to cost you the most money, and with his 2 Cy Young awards, World Series Title. He would be great for the Yankees and would net the Giants a ton in return, and Cano would fill an area of need for them as well.

To reply to an prior reply, you cannot exchange Clemens. He's a loose agent. No one will take Giambi's loss of creation and bloated agreement. And why exchange Damon, whilst he used to be healthful he used to be typically the excellent participant to your crew. I'm no longer a Yankee fan, however that may not give up me from giving my view in this one. There isn't any motive to eliminate Cashman. If it wasn't for him maintaining steadfastly directly to the top first-class pitching clients that at the moment are at the horizon the Yankees long run might be a lot bleaker. As a long way as who might you desire to exchange, the query will have to be who CAN be traded? Damon might have curiosity, however like I stated earlier than a healthful Damon is a well factor. As lengthy as they preserve the DH/LF platoon of him he's going to be in larger aid and convey extra subsequent yr. Otherwise, nobody is tradeable besides for avid gamers which are going to be loose sellers or clients. If something, the crew demands bullpen aid. So attempting one of the vital younger children, Karstens, Clippard, DeSalvo, within the bullpen or buying and selling them for aid would no longer be a nasty inspiration. To reply the final query. Ideally, you continually might instead signal brief time period offers, however such a lot avid gamers wish a longer term deal. Not to say any individual will continually present one regardless of how unhealthy an inspiration it's, i.e. JD Drew Red Sox, Carl Pavano Yankees. I suppose the Yankees nonetheless have a high-quality center of veterans, and plenty of promising younger hands. As lengthy as they make shrewd signings and retain to provide from the minors they will be excellent. And signing Torrii Hunter to an already crowded outfield quandary is NOT a well inspiration.

theres rumors on trading tex or swish we did not lose this series on pitching it was no hitting why we lost and everybody stunk but id say tex is beyond horrible and swisher also. at least arod had 2 hits with 3 rbis for a guy not 100% and coming from a leg surgery i say trade texiera we dont need him and is useless in the playoffs.

I don't see the point. If you're gonna go young then go young. There's no point in having Oswalt as a bridge.

34? No, I wouldn't go that way. Need to get younger, not saddled with another arm you could lose on in a year or two.

idk 34? we need young strong pitchers. to get the pitching rotation moving in gear.
