I am going to be buying a scooter?
I am going to be buying a scooter. most of the time I am going to be just hauling myself. I am 200 pounds. but there will be occasions that i will be hauling my girlfriend she is 150 pounds so do the math and that comes out to about 350 pounds I want to be able to cruse about 50 mph with the girlfriend. I was looking at a 150. it this going to satisfy my needs or not. I need help.

sustaining 50mph with 350 pounds on board will present a challenge in some situations. many if not most 150cc scooters top out in the low 60mph range, and some barely hit 60mph. and thats with a lot less weight on board. i mean give the scooter some time and it will reach those speeds, but it will take it's time and if going up a hill or into a headwind trouble may occur. not to mention any extra unsprung weight you might be carrying under the seat or elsewhere.
its hard to suggest something without knowing your budget or location, but new and barely used scooters can be had at good prices that would suit your needs. but here are some examples

that is a great scooter and new can be had at those prices new or "leftover." sometimes out the door. used, even less expensive. retail is around $3600 but you won't pay that much. this would be a good deal, for instance

and i have seen them selling for less with just a few thousand miles on them

looking for something with more of a "classic" style, i.e. "vespa" style...that MIGHT get the job done (cruising at 50mph)?

brand new they are $2600-$2700. so used and even new they can be had for under $3000 OTD, most likely. just make an offer, and be and informed buyer! anyway they are pretty big and have a long seat
new

i won't mention vespa or more expensive scoots. i assume if you were looking to spend well over six grand on a 300cc vespa you would have already done that. so these are just some practical suggestions for those on a budget. but yeah a 150cc is GREAT for you. trouble is when you do NEED to haul the girlfriend around you are right, you need something capable. even if it's just a few times a month. otherwise it can be a complete PITA. believe me, i know :(

150 should do it, if you feel it's too slow get a 250.... If you want a Chinese one, great, but keep in mind it will only last 2000 miles. Get a Honda/Yamaha and it'll last your lifetime. You pick, it's your bike.
