what is an example of a conflict between two absolutes?

im doing an essay on moral absolutism for my ethics class. and im writing a bit about 'graded absolutism' which is where if a conflict between two absolutes occur, it is our duty to obey the higher one: duty to god, then duty to others, followed by our duty to our property.

and for every point we make, we're meant to have an example, but i cant seem to think of one!! so could someone give me an example of a conflict between two absolutes please??


ohh and if you have any other points that you think would be good in my essay i would be very grateful. and also anyone know if Kant believed in graded absolutism?

because you've posted this in R&S ... the two absolutes are, as always - christ & satan.

and they ARE absolutes.

what's the conflict?  typically, the "fight" for people's souls.  this is conveyed in today's world as "spiritual warfare" or "psych-illogical warfare"

people argue that religion is brainwashing, however - satan is the real brainwasher, not christ.

in christ, one is made CLEAN ... but they are not BRAINWASHED.

satan represents all of the things that bring a person's life to great harm:  death, imprisonment, addiction, hatred, violence, greed... overall destruction of spirit, soul and life.

christ represents all of the things that anyone would truly want; happiness, joy, love, safety, health, etc.

when satan tells a person that drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality, lying and theft are the things that make a person happy ... saying look around, everyone else is doing it ... this is right behavior, not wrong ... the person is duped and brainwashed and will eventually open their eyes and suffer - yet... 

christ will be there, if they call on christ.  THAT is the ultimate absolute truth, which DOES kick satan's a$$.
