ok so whenever i plug in my mic my pc just shuts down and i plug my mic in from the back of my pc?
1) my PC is not one of those in which you can plug in your mic or whatever from the front
2) this problem has just started occurring now and no i have not installed anything new its just randomly occurring
please help me and give me a detailed explanation for how to solve this dilemma :(

you could check if the same thing happens with another mic if possible to rule out hardware problem..
you could also try a File System error check..this is quite easy..follow the steps below..
Open my computer, right click the C: , then select properties, click the Tools tab, under Error checking section, click the "Check Now" button
It would display a message - stating it will have to schedule for file system check at the next reboot your computer.. click OK and then reboot your computer..
as it boots,
you will shown a message ..press any key to cancel scheduled file system check..you Do Not have to do anything here..wait for it to complete and it will boot your desktop. Try the mic again.

MIC's must only be plugged into sockets color coded PINK.
you cant just put it into any old socket.
test a different mic if it does the same think your pc MIC socket is duff.
otherwise your mic is duff.
