What is the best HD video camera on the market today?
If I wanted to produce high quality HD videos- but am a student so obviously not rolling in money, what model do you recommend? Something reasonable and worth it?

To answer your first question directly... Probably the Red One. Ultra-high definition. Maybe something from Silicon Imaging.
Your second question... it depends on YOUR budget. I like the Sony HDR-FX1000. Above this, something from the XDCAM lineup or upper end of the Canon XF line. Below this, Sony HDR-FX7. In the consumer grade area, something from the Canon HF S series.
Whether the camcorder is "worth it" is up to you, not someone's opinion.
