What does it mean to dream about a city you do not know?
I had a vivid dream last night about having a job interview in a city called Rockford, Illinois. In the dream, I looked at a very detailed topographical map of Illinois and scrolled to the top to find Rockford. There was the office building on one side of the highway, and on the other side of the highway was a rocky outcropping, and after that was what looked like a large body of water. So, in the dream, I asked if that was Lake Michigan. The people at the company were reticent and did not answer.
So, today,while awake, I looked up Rockford, Illinois and discovered that there is actually a city by that name in the north of Illinois. (I live in another part of the country.) It is not on Lake Michigan but on the Rock River.
While it is possible I may have heard the name of that city, I certainly could not have known where it was or that it was next to a body of water. And the map in my dream seemed very detailed.
What could it mean that I was dreaming about that city?

The city of Rockford, Illinois is a real city. It really exist. Rockford, Illinois is about 5 miles south of the Wisconsin / Illinois border. It is situated on the Rock River which is a tributary of the Mississippi River.
You might want to consider applying for work in Rockford, Illinois. Remember though if you are asked about a body of water outside the company it is (very, very, likely that it is) the Rock River.
As far as the outcropping go they may be decorative or real. There are in fact stone quarries in Rockford and the nearby area. There are also several landscaping and other businesses that do stone work.
As far as going into the ministry, I do not feel that this is in your immediate future. I did however find a very good church in Rockford, Illinois called Bethesda Covenant Church that may interest you. The website is below in the source section.

Suggests that God is considering bringing you into a ministry of healing of some form. "Ill noise" or the sound of the hurting draws your spirit. In fact, this destiny is already mapped-out for you in great detail, which is why you saw the detailed map. Christ is the Rock or strength of faith in scriptural terms and a ford is used to control and divide rivers of water. God's Word is described as a river flowing from His throne. In other words, you are drawn to help the hurting. You are able to do this by going to the Rock, Jesus Christ, and "fording" His Word. It may be more humble than what you expect...such as one of the great lakes, but it's important to God to map this out for you and show you.
