    how i got 32 as an answers- you work backwards.

    25-17= 8

    8*4= 32

    write the equation with the answer.

    32 divided by 4= 13

    13+17=25

    Not sure what a quotient is :P But if its the number that has been divided by 4 then the answer is 32?

    If the quotient is the number that has been divided by 4, this is how i worked it out. The different between 17 and 25 is 8. So 25 - 17 = 8. And because that number was divided by 4, you now need to times it by 4 to get your answer. So 8 x 4 = 32.

    32. Bc 32 divided by 4 = 8. 8+17= 25

    Let x be the number; Let y be the quotient;

    x/4=y

    y+17=25 transpose the number to find the value of y;

    y=25-17

    y= 8;

    substitute y=8;

    x/4=8

    x=8*4

    x=32
