Is the Compaq nc6000 laptop Battery meant to come out and be removed or replaced if need be?
The door to the battery is impossible to open or remove and need/want to take the battery out but do not know if it is meant to be opened?

Close the laptop. Turn it upside down the front facing you. There are two sliding switches. The one on the left with a rectangular icon on it releases the battery. You have to HOLD the switch when you slide it, then pull the battery outwards, which is in the lower left part of the computer. When re-inserting the battery just slide it in until you hear a click. If it isn't inserted right, it won't fit.
If it still won't come out, then something is jammed, and you may need to get creative.

Yeah, they can be replaced. The last time I checked, you can get a battery for a laptop for about a $100.00 That would be the cheapest, well that was a few years ago when I looked, but I doubt it isn't much cheaper. The batteries are designed and made to last 6 months, if used everyday.

There are two versions of the battery, a 10.8 volt and a 14.8 volt, they are definately removable as said by releasing the latches.
