Why isn't there a IROC type of race for motocross?
I saw an old IROC Z today and wondered why didn't they ever do that for motocross? Where all the bikes would be exactly the same. The last pro racer I know that ran a bone stock bike was Bob Hannah. It would be interesting to see the lap times of the top pro's on a bone stock bike. They could allow modifications as long as every other bike had the exact same mod. Does anyone know why it was never done?

Firstly it needs a manufacturer willing to supply enough bikes at an affordable price to riders that would support the class, in return think of the extra sales for the manufacturer, so that part is viable.
Would enough circuits get involved in racing that class of bike, yes I think so.
Would riders support the class, that would depend on good prize money from sponsors like an oil company and racing clothing manufacturers and primary naming rights. That could be done.
Why isn't it done? Nobody has talked to enough riders to gauge interest then gone further talking to a manufacturer with the concept and so on. It isn't done because nobody has taken the first step. It really makes interesting racing and could work over several tracks accumulating points for a championship...
