The production manager is polish and keeps singling him out and shouting at him in front of the production floor. Complaints have been put in, in the past about the same guy and nothing has been done. What is the next step as its now spiralled out of control with the production manager telling him that he may lose his job.

Your boyfriend needs to go and speak to someone in HR and tell them exactly whats going on. Racial harassment works both ways and the company is wrong for allowing an uneven mix of nationalities.

It may help your bf if he can give examples of where he feels he is being singled out and he needs to start documenting everything he feels where he is being treated differently from everyone else witnesses name would be great too. Even talking in another language in front of someone can be taken as a type of harassment.

Racial discrimination can go to a tribunal hearing regardless of how long he has been employed, but he needs to complain to HR first and follow their procedures and give them the opportunity to do something about it.

The fact that others have complained about him (the manager) may help but this must be about him (your bf) and only him.

Look at the acas website on racial harassment there is some good advice on what is acceptable and what isn't.

    Good Luck.

Every company has a HR (Human Resources) office. Phone them up and file a serious harressment complaint. Hr take such matters very seriously and will take action fast.

Then you can phone your "Citizen Advice Bureau" and they would guide you into how to take further action and they may help you find a free legal solicitor who will write the company a letter and opt to start a court case.

This ought to scare the manager off and he'll never bother him again

    Hi

As Bri2ish said go to H.R dpt but also go to ACAS rather than CAB , Tjere is also going on what you have written a case for Racial Harrassment. as well as been treated unfairly. Does he or hashe kept a log of when the incidents happened, and potential witnesses

    Good Luck

First he needs to document everything. I suspect Hr wont do much in which case if he has a list, recordings , diary (not sure if u have to notify the recorded person or not) etc will help him build a case for harassment/racism.
