Low thyroid function can affect emotions and rationality. Go get your thyroid checked. Don't be so quick to jump to the conclusion that it is cancer. See your doctor and discuss it with her/him. Life is too short to worry about the unknown. Hugs..........good luck and God bless.

Having cancer is a very stressful. However, I feel you want to know if the disease itself (not the psychological aspect) would affect a persons emotions or rationality.

In the initial stages thyroid cancer will affect only the metabolic rate of the person. As secondaries spread and deposit in different parts of the body then emotions and rationality will become impaired. The person will become disorientated to time, person, place and social situations. He/she will do inappropriate things at wrong times.

I would think that having cancer would affect anyone's short term emotions.

After all, they would be facing mortality.

Good Luck with whomever it is.
