Christians, is it possible for a star to lead me to the right town?
This star would be my only guide for the entire journey, so will I be guaranteed to find the right town?
By following the setting sun? Are you CERTAIN you want to stick with that answer, or do you prefer to think about that for a while?
What some of you are saying is that Jesus' family originated in Bethlehem, but THAT cannot be true because Joseph and Mary supposedly TRAVELED to Bethlehem to be taxed, right?
If I am the one being absurd, then what do you say about a talking snake? Isn't that a childish tale that should not even BE in a book that was supposed to be taken seriously? C'mon, at LEAST admit that the Bible is quite silly! How CAN you believe in it? Is THIS the best example of a book that was inspired by a GOD?
You call me "irrational," yet I am not the one who prays to the ceiling each night, hoping that my words will be heard by a being who is not even in this UNIVERSE, correct?
If the wise men believed from prophecy that the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem, why did they FIRST go to Jerusalem?
Do you know that the wise men had no idea where the Messiah was born, and THAT'S why they went to Jerusalem first, so how is THAT for men who supposedly were followers of prophecy?
If some of you believe it is perfectly normal behavior to pray to an undetectable being, then I wonder just WHO is irrational here, because most Christians DO insist that the reason God cannot be found is that He IS outside of our 3 dimensions, and therefore he IS outside our universe, correct?
I DO insist that people are praying to the ceiling! Where do their voices really go, then? Millions of people praying at once, and God is supposed to sort out each individual plea? All THIS while He is running the ENTIRE universe that is at LEAST tens of BILLIONS of light years in diameter?
People are telling me that God is all POWERFUL, yet I wonder why He does NOTHING to stop children being MURDERED every year? He was willing to help the wise men offer their trinkets to Jesus by showing them the way to Bethlehem, but for some reason He can't stop the suffering of INNOCENT people, why IS that?

The problem with this well worn cobbler is that, its not True. The Christmas Stories you hear every year may say they “followed a Star” but the Bible is clear that they knew to go to Bethlehem before they saw the Star. Why? Because the Messiah was Prophecied to be born in Bethlehem. The Magi knew of the Prophecy and simply went to Bethlehem when they saw the Sign that the Messiah had been Born.
The star did not guide them on the actual physical Journey, they simply understood that the Star signalled the Birth of the Great King. The rest was gathered from the prophetic information that they already had and which had been written down 400 years earlier.
EDIT:
SO, you don't think people ever move?
its not that hard. Josephs family was from Bethlehem. Or possibly Mary's. or both. They either personally moved the roughly 60-80 Miles to Nazareth on their own, or else at some point in the past one of their respective Ancestors did. EG, perhaps Josephs Grandfather was from Bethlehem, but moved to Nazareth as he didn't like city life and preferred small villages. Maybe Mary's Father took a job as a respected merchant in a bizarre and bought cheap land in Nazareth. This is really not that hard to solve and at this point you are simply proving that I'm right and you just want to find fault with the Bible. You original objection was that following a Star couldn't lead you anywhere and that was answered. Stop moving the goal posts and stop being absurd. Not everyone lives in the same place their family is originally from.
EDIT 2:
Using the Phrase "Talking snake" seems to have become popular. But its meaningless. For one thing, its not even in the same book as the Magi. the Bible is not a single book. it has no baring on this question at all. None. Even if the "Talking snake" was silly, its not "The Bible" but only the Third Chapter of Genesis. If you are too stupid to even know this its not my fault, but the fact remains that you are now just moving the goal posts.
Stick to the real question, and stop trying to create an appearance of victory by simply saying "Talking Snake". You're only proving my own point that you are Irrational and only want to attack the Bible, and this is not about Truth.
EDIT 3:Christians do not Pray tothe Ceiling. You are beign an idiot again. That is why this is Irrational. Also,if God is Omnipresent then he is not "Outside of the Universe". And again, what does that have to do with the question? Oh thats right, nothing, its just another generic slur .
By the way, Jerusalem is the Capital of Judeah, and has the Temple. Plus, sometimes peopel pass through cities to get ot other ones regardless. If I pass through Oakton to get to LA, its not that strange. But you seem to think this is. This is why the question is irrational and meanignless.
EDIT 4: You are wrong when you say "Most Christians" say so and so. you're just presenting Caricatures that reduce the argument to easily digested bits you think you can readily refute. Most also would say God is not undetectable but manifest to them. If you cannot argue honestly then don't at all.
Nothing in the Scripture says that they had no idea where Messiah would be born. Nothing even hints at this. They show up in Jerusalem on the way to Bethlehem, and ask where the King of the Jews is only because they expect others to be as excited as they, and because it took two years in total for them to even turn up. Do you assume that they believed the Messiah had to remain only in Bethlehem? Asking about where someone is after 2 years is hardly unreasonable, and if you read the text rather than go by the simplistic Christmas Story you'd see why your statements make no sense at all. Jerusalem was the capital. Jerusalem is where the Temple was. Jerusalem is thus a Logical stop along the way because they believed that everyone knew that the King had been Born. Its also on the way to Bethlehem if he is still there. I am sorry you lack basic Reading comprehension but this really is not that complex.
EDIT 5: Your statements still have no barign ont hre actual question. And, they are still meanignless. if God is Inifite then God wouidl have an infinite ability to hear all prayers, so your objection is rather silly. You assume that God is limited, and forget that he is suppose to be all powerful.
not that any of this has anything to do with the Magi and teir trip to find the King of the Jews.
EDIT 6: Yopu are still off on a tangent. Space limitatiosn rpevent a full answer but the basic oen is this, who is to say God doe snothing? Why think in terms of only the physical life we see? Or Murderign Children for that matter?
God also lets peopl fall in Love, watch Beutiful Sunsets, and enjoy the benefits of a good relationshiop with Friends.
Butn none of that really relates to yoru original question and its obviosu you just want reasosn to hate God.
