Unemployment Question?? Va state?
i have a hypothetical question, its basically a real situation, but trying to make the details as basic as I can.
I work in Virginia, I work for a job that says I have to pick up pieces on a conveyor belt and stack them.
lets say they have a rule in the rule book that says if I drop/miss 5 pieces and they break im terminated..
now lets say you was doing this job for years, and now due to the reccession, they have decided to let a few people go, and to do so they have decided to speed up the machine, and dont care if you and EVERYONE else cant keep up.. And Still for every peice that falls/missed hits the floor, you get a write-up, and the first 2-3 employees to get 5 are let go, then they would obviuosly slow down the machine once to the staff they want(plus this way they feel they kept the best of the best).
Obviuosly they would do this to prevent the employees from getting unemployment, as many have left already some did and some did not get it, based on the simular situation.
And obviously the employees that still have a job wont stand with you, and the company gets to say , Hey its in the rule book, 5 mistakes and your terminated, doesnt say how fast we can run the machine...
Is their ANYWAY to fight this kind of situation and get unemployment if this happens to me?? This has been going on for a while and a few have left and not able to unemployment, since they were fired for breaking company rules.. (im not sure un realistic goals causing mistakes is should be seen as breaking the rules)?
So many people unable to find jobs, I cant afford to loose everything, because a company is trying to unload a percentage of the workforce by termination... And we all know walking into another job right now is impossible ( same chance as the lottery almost )/
I want to work, I come to work everyday, i never call in sick, i never miss time, i work all overtime as needed, willing to do everything asked, how can you make a rule thats impossible to follow and call it the legal loop hole to terminate employees (at the holidays too).. this is so unreal.
**The description i gave although is not the exact same thing, but it is 100% equal to the real situation(which would be much harder to explain)
Any legal advise out thier??? to protect me if im the next one on the chopping block to at least get unemployment???? some money atleast might keep my house for me and the family(thats #1 over food,utilitys). Im a good guy, but i WILL NOT loose my house by ANY MEANS!!! ANY!!!!! MEANS!!!!

Do a background check on your employer that sounds illegal.
