Do evaporation lines fade on pregnancy tests? Please help! TTC #1?

I took an EPT (I know, blue dye tests are evil) and it came up with a faint positive. I'm a couple days before my expected period. I've been having a LOT of symptoms. I was panicking that maybe it was just an evaporation line and somehow just got blue dye leaked in or something because I was late checking it. However, I've read that blue dye in evap lines fades after a few hours, and this has lasted 48 hrs (the minimum that a positive lasts). I know I'm going to get the "The only way to know for sure is it take another test" responses, but I'd like advice before my expected period, and my husband has asked me not to take another test, for fear a negative would work me up unnecessarily. So, any answers would be appreciated. Thanks!

Also, here's a link to a picture of the test I took. It still looks the same: http://www.flickr.com/photos/64769915@N08/62366278...

Update:

What I'd really like to know is about the evaporation lines fading. Do they normally fade where a positive lasts? I've read that on some sites, but I'd like some more reassurance. Please help me with that part. Thank you.

If you followed the test directions and saw a positive, no matter how faint, you can assume you're pregnant. As hard as it is to wait and wonder, your only choices are: a) believe this test, b) take another test or c) wait for your period. Good luck!

EDIT -- If the line appeared in the specified time window and was the appropriate color, it was a real positive. Evaporation lines DO fade, but they typically are gray or colorless (like a shadow or "ghost" line) and don't appear in the specified time window.

You can find more info at www.peeonastick.com. Good luck!

I've taken more HPTs than I care to remember (21 TTC, irregular cycle) and from experience some evaps fade, some don't or even get stronger.

And by the way: some faint true positives fade shortly after the time limit. There is no minimum of 48 hours.
