What other Yankee fans want to see C.C. walk?

I have many reasons to say he should walk.

He is overrated. He pitches to a 3.00 ERA each year and gets all his wins due to the great run support the Yankees can give a pitcher. Yes he can eat up some innings but he is not truly an overpowering hurler that has the stuff to win big games. He is now in his 30's, his arm has to be tiring from the 230+ IP each year and he gained ALL his weight back. It was obvious his weight gain became an issue.

On another team he would have stats like this 15-13 3.25 Era. Yes a big mix of wins and losses because many teams don't have the offensive numbers to save a pitcher if he gives up 4+ runs a game and still get him a W.

Now, another thing, he is blocking youth. I saw Phil Hughes reach 94-96 again this post-season. He attacks hitters and is fearless and is still only 25. He still has tremendous upside. Nova, what can I say? When he is on, he has the shades of a young Greg Maddux. Then there is Bentances and Banuelos, a duo that could turn into an amazing 1-2 punch. And there is some pitchers this off-season and the next that prove to be a lot better than Sabathia really is, especially if the Yankees want to go young they should look at allowing him to walk to get someone like Darvish this off-season or someone in the likes of Matt Cain next year. Cain and Lincecum would definitely be on the trade block if the Giants suffer next year.

Update:

To "Yankees Fan - 97-65"

If he leaves they aren't particularly screwed.

It would be a blessing and open opportunities in the rotation to give his spot away to someone better or someone who is going to be better.

Plus really? They Yankees don't have to contend every single ******* year. They can take a rebuilding year for once. They still have a team thats competitive enough. Maybe the loss of C.C. in the rotation will teach A-Rod to actually TRY and PLAY for something during the season and appreciate reaching the off-season after real hard work like the Rays and Cardinals put up.

As a Red Sox fan I would love to see him walk. Yankee Stadium is a hitters park and he gave up fewer runs when pitching for the Brewers. I would love to see Boston sign CC, though I seriously doubt that will happen. I think you are the only Yankees fan that thinks losing CC Sabathia would be a good thing for the Yankees, but he does need to lose some weight there is no question about that. The extra weight is going to be hell on his knees and back and it is only a matter of time before he becomes plagued by injuries. I would love to see CC join the Red Sox and win 300 games.

I'm a Mets fan, but I'll look at this from a Yankees point of view. Yankees need Sabathia. Even if his win numbers are inflated due to his offense, he is still a Cy Young Award candidate. He has been very important to the team. He has been their ace. If the issue is money, it's the Yankees. That shouldn't be a problem. If the issue is the younger guys not getting a chance, be patient. Right now, Sabathia gives the Yankees a better chance than Phil Hughes or any minor leaguer would. If you want to win, keep Sabathia. If you want to concede in hopes of having success down the road, get rid of him.

NY is a tough place to play. CC handles it pretty well. He is a solid pitcher (no fat jokes). Yankees fans won't put up with rebuilding so struggling really isn't an option. Honestly, the Yankee pitching isn't that strong after CC. Nova is young, Hughes has potential but also a bit of injury history now and can be inconsistent. You can't throw young players to the wolves in NY it will backfire. Offensively, they can still put up runs, but they will be another year older. How much longer and how much production can you expect from Jeter, A-Rod, Tex (offensively disappointing) and even Granderson (low average but power), Swisher (yikes), Gardner only has speed (not a great hitter). You true offensive all-star is Cano.

So basically your saying that you want to get rid of our top pitcher, and litter our rotation with all unseasoned rookies. Oh ya, 3.00 ERA is terrible. The league average is only over 1 run higher. Yup, hes such an ace. We dont need an experienced veteran. And you can talk down on his weight when you help us reach the playoffs. Dumb post.

Excuse me, forgive me for being a Twins fan. But an average pitcher has an ERA about 4.50. Sabathia is 1.5 runs better than an average pitcher. Why would any club want to rid themselves of that advantage?

Yankees pitching staff is loaded, especially with a healthy Hughes returning. If CC walks then that frees up a boatload of money to go after another top starter to replace him.

No, the yankees need CC with a 3.00 ERA, his pretty good. Don't get me wrong I faith with our rotation, but without CC it's going to be tough with pitching next season; unless they can sign a better ace.

They would need some kind of older veteran ace on the staff. So they'd have to either try to keep Sabathia or go out and try to sign someone else, because do you really want to have Burnett, whose contract is through 2013, as that veteran ace?

  • Ive gotta agree with you a bit on this one

I believe he is a bit overrated. He is a good pitcher, but i dont consider him top tier as most do. If he cant get his ERA down under 3, i will keep feeling the same way.

A 3.00 ERA is pretty good. He's the best the Yankees have.
