What is wrong with my Gardenia?

It is planted in a pot with good quality potting mix, it has had well formed flower buds for a couple of months but none have opened. Most of the older leaves have turned yellow and dropped off and there is very little new leaves or growth. I have watered regularly and is in a shady spot with an hour or two direct sun each day. Night temps are about 14c and days around 26c, southern hemisphere spring time.No insects causing damage.

Any help will be appreciated

The plant is drowning, do not water it more than once a week. Also replant it if possible to a larger container.

Gardenias need full sun. Keep the soil evenly moist but not wet. If your pot does not have drainage hole transplant it to one that does, they do not like standing water.
