Going to a Goth Industrial club, but I'm not a Goth. Tips please?
I'm going to a club where one of my favourite bands Icon of Coil are doing a show. A lot of the people there are going to be in Goth styled clothes, and I have a feeling I might be the only guy dressed without the Goth style. I am wearing all black that night by the way, but I have a feeling that a lot of the people there are gonna give me weird looks like "What's a guy like him doing here?" or something like that. Any tips so I can fit in with some of the other people?

Honestly they're not gonna care. I've been to gothic industrial clubs and you know what, there were people there dressed normal who only went to enjoy the music and they didn't get down upon by those who were dressed up. Yes, some people like to dress up in gothic attire when they go to events such as this but there are also some people who dress in normal attire but are still goth because they love the music like The Cure or Siouxsie and the Banshees. It's not the clothing which is important, it's the music. I say don't worry bout it, dress how you want to and just enjoy yourself

Here's my advice, and you can apply it to every situation. Always be yourself. People can get hung up on looking a certain way, trying to fit in. Wear whatever you want. If people give you weird looks, just smile and say hi. It's all in how you project yourself. If you act like you shouldn't be there, people will pick up on it. If you act like you're happy to be watching one of your favorite bands, you'll have a good time. Also, it's about the music. Even if a couple of people did give you a weird look, that's trivial compared to the benefit of enjoying your music, even if you were just kind of hanging out by yourself. Just get into the music and you'll have a good time.

I dress in normal bluejeans/t-shirt attire and if someone gives me an odd look I tell them fashion doesn't make the fan only the poser.

well look at it this way. If they arent assholes they can be friends with ya regardless of ur style. But if there all in to that "non-conformist life sucks" bullshit i wouldnt even try. If they like who you are thats a plus for them if not ....**** em up the *** with a chinease monkey
